I was always playing catch up. Catching up to get as drunk or more so than everyone. Catching up with old friends when the memories would come up and I’d never remember what they were talking about from our drinking days. And each and every morning my body, brain, and spirit would try to catch up to starting the day like a normal person. I would wake up sick and anxious, put out the fires I’d started, and once that was done I’d catch up on hydrating myself with gallons of water and Gatorade. That’s not a way to start any day. Who needs it? I’d rather catch up on anything that sparks joy. Happy Thursday, sober family! Keep it simple today.
