We didn’t get sober until we were in our 40s. Like any “good” drunks we tried to stop many a time before we actually did. I usually quit for at least a day after making an ass of myself. Sometimes even two! As soon as I started to feel less anxious or ashamed by what I’d done I’d celebrate by getting drunk. Does that make sense? Nope. Did I do it at least 700 times? Yep. When we were done, though, we were DONE. The control that alcohol had over me was unexplainable. That didn’t vibe with the strong, independent woman that I wanted to be so badly. So…see ya alcohol. You suck anyway. Happy Thursday, sober family! Keep it simple today.
