It’s the pity that gets me every time. Sure, some people don’t like me. Sure, some don’t like my sis. But to pity us?! 😡 I would see the look between friends when I was getting too sloppy. The one look like who’s going to babysit her crazy ass tonight? And the one that was oh no she’s doing it again and I wish she’d get the help she needs. That’s the one that when I was coherent enough to catch mortified me. Our dad has Alzheimer’s right now and we’re doing our best not to pity him…which is really hard as it is an awful awful cruel disease. He would be mortified himself knowing that we feel sorry for him and our mom who’s taking care of him. We can be sad for him and remember the good. The thing is, he can’t control it. We can control our drinking…by not doing it. Happy Saturday, sober family! Keep it simple today.
