Dry january

We love the #dryjanuary idea for normal drinkers (normies). It’s awesome to see and hear about so many people starting 2021 on a healthy, sober foot. It’s definitely not an easy thing to do. Every time I tried dry January before I got sober it lasted until the third. I’d always find a reason to drink. It’s not like I would just drink on the third, either. I’m an all or nothing kind of girl. So if I drank one day I’d quit the whole challenge and keep on chugging. Every day.
I love the idea of balance in life. I’ve just never been good at it. When I drank I wouldn’t eat because I didn’t want the calories from the alcohol AND the food…I also wanted to be sure my stomach was empty to be able to absorb the most alcohol. More bang for the buck.
I can’t count the number of times people would just ask me to “just have a few”, “you don’t need to get shitfaced”, “think about tomorrow”. Once I start, I don’t stop. Today I’m healthy and happy. If I was drinking, I’d be neither. Happy Tuesday, sober family. Keep it simple today.
